Wife Wants Me To Wear A Girdle

Weapons Trains snow

Today I bring a selection of images I have collected snow trains as part of the documentation for Leviatren .

There are two main types of trains for this work: the wedge, riding a fixed blade on the front that goes away the snow to one side, and the rotary, designed for those places where there is too much snow to be pushed. The latter type is powered by a rotary blade mechanism, in the manner of carrying the tunnel boring machines, drilling snow, spray and expelled through a channel off the road. Rotary plow trains are almost obsolete because they are expensive to use and difficult to maintain.

Updated: In the 60's in Poland (and apparently in some parts of Russia) snow trains were even more peculiar design, which included a jet engine MiG-15 to melt the snow. See the last picture (via Dark Roasted Blend ).
